In 1966, two journalists track down a reclusive lighthouse keeper—the last surviving connection to a long-lost, infamous riverboat: the S.S. Willie. As Michael “Mick” Moss reluctantly recounts his past, the story flashes back to 1928 and the tiny town of Podunk Landing, where a young "Mickey" is recruited by the charismatic Captain Pete for a life of adventure on the Mississippi River. But what begins as a simple bootlegging job quickly becomes something more as one unforgettable night, and the singer he meets, sets Mickey on a path that will change his life forever.
